episode summary
Pilar fly's half way around the world to set up a meeting with Harchester legend Karl Fletcher in Saudi Arabia. Pilar informs Fletch of the financial trouble Harchester are in and needs Fletch to bail them out. Fletch suggests the very rich chairman's brother of the club he is currently playing for could offer them a way out, but to leave it with him and he will get back to her.
Fletch returns to Harchester from Saudi Arabia with the rich Sheik in tow. As the sheik gets a tour of the club he is somewhat unimpressed by the lack of well-known players in the Harchester team as well as their average stadium. Pilar and Stuart do their best to convince the sheik that Harchester are a team for the future. Jeff sees an opportunity to edge out Pilar by teaming up with Fletch knowing that, if the rich Sheik buys the club Fletch will become manager and he will then make Jeff Chief Executive.
Pilar now knows that Fletch and Jeff are a great threat to her remaining in charge of Harchester. Fletch and Jeff work through the night to prepare a very impressive presentation of what they could make Harchester in the future including a very impressive 80,000 seated stadium. Pilar catches up with the sheik telling him that he could go for the proposed plan set by Fletch and Jeff, or he could buy Harchester at a knock down price. With the sheik wanting to know more, Pilar explains that if the team drop below 6th place in the league then the banks will pull the plug on them, resulting in them going bankrupt – paving the way for a saviour of the club, the sheik.
Meanwhile, Harchester keep up their end of the bargain by winning their next game keeping them at the right end of the table, but for how long....
